Vertrek van Artsen zonder Grenzen uit Gaza dreigt vanwege nieuwe Israëlische eisen
De Nederlandse tak van hulporganisatie Artsen zonder Grenzen (AzG) weigert akkoord te gaan met nieuwe Israëlische regels voor internationale hulporganisaties. De kans is groot dat AzG daarom eind februari zal moeten vertrekken uit het Palestijnse gebied, zo meldt directeur Karel Hendriks aan de NOS.
Dan verloopt een deadline voor hulporganisaties om akkoord te gaan met de nieuwe Israëlische eisen . De Israëlische regering meldde eind vorig jaar al dat het tientallen hulporganisaties de toegang tot Gaza zou gaan ontzeggen als zij niet akkoord gaan met de nieuwe eisen, die vooral gaan over informatie over lokale hulpverleners.
"Israël geeft eisen af over hoe we ons moeten uitspreken als AzG, maar ook over informatie die we moeten aanleveren over onze medewerkers", zegt directeur Hendriks.

Box 43 in Teresina, Brazil

Until you reach Box 43 . Hidden beneath this small shop is a trapdoor that leads to one of the most well-preserved remnants of Brazil’s military dictatorship: a former underground detention cell, sealed away in plain sight beneath a craft market.
The building itself once served as the headquarters of the Military Police of Piauí, a role it held until the late 1970s. When it was converted into a cultural center in the 1980s, most traces of its previous life disappeared; except for this basement, which was never dismantled or reconstructed.
