In New York I ran a photography studio, and witnessed a lot of fashion shoots. The clothes would be delivered from the fashion designer's studio, and it was the stylist's job to make those clothes fit whatever models had been hired for the shoot.

Because shoots move quickly, and the garments couldn't be physically modified, stylists frequently used safety pins, binder clips and the like to pinch the fabric (on the side of the model's body that the camera couldn't see). So I was amused to see this Eye Clip , by Issey Miyake.

It's basically an XL version of what a stylist might use during a shoot. It's meant to be worn out in the open, and allows the wearer to don ridiculously wrong-sized garments, in the name of fashion.

Yfke Sturm noemt haar intensieve contact met Jeffrey Epstein "een ernstige inschattingsfout". Afgelopen week verscheen de naam van het Nederlandse model in honderden nieuwe vrijgegeven documenten in de grote misbruikzaak rond de Amerikaanse ondernemer.

Gisteren maakten Shownieuws en Hart van Nederland bekend dat Epstein en Sturm sinds 2011 intensief contact hadden en dat er zeer "expliciete privéberichten" tussen de documenten zitten. Epstein was in die periode al een veroordeelde zedendelinquent.

"Ik was naïef en onderschatte de ware aard van Epstein en de schade die hij aanrichtte", reageert Sturm nu in een schriftelijke verklaring. De gesprekken tussen Sturm en Epstein beginnen eind december 2011 professioneel en vriendelijk, met contact over vacatures bij de bedrijven van de ondernemer, de echtscheiding van het model en een felicitatie voor haar verjaardag.

Michelle Dekker mag zich al twaalf jaar olympisch snowboardster noemen, maakt zich op voor haar vierde Winterspelen, maar moet nog gewoon aan twee Duitse wintersporters uitleggen wat ze doet. Dekker, die op haar zeventiende haar olympische debuut maakte, merkt in de Oostenrijkse bergen opnieuw dat haar sport niet alleen in Nederland een niche is.

Als ze in Bad Gastein een gondel in stapt, vragen twee medepassagiers wat ze doet. Bescheiden zegt Dekker dat ze hier traint voor een World Cup, de Olympische Spelen laat ze bewust achterwege.

Als die later toch ter sprake komen, schieten de twee wintersporters rechtop. Ze kijken elkaar aan en zeggen: "We zitten gewoon met een olympisch atleet in de gondel." 'De snelheid is er' Een olympisch atleet met ambities, bovendien.
